If you are a blogger then you give yourself the best chance to rank for long tail keywords, thereby increasing your earning ability with adsense, if you have proper sitewide coding. Most of the bloggers use WordPress.  This is the most SEO friendly content management problem out there and Google loves it.  WP sites get indexed and ranked quicker than any of the others found on the internet. Having said that you need to change the permalinks structure when you begin a new website or if you ever purchase a  preexisting one. The default setting will look like this: http://randomblog/p?=123 While this is not the end of the world this is definitely not the optimal coding you would like for SEO purposes. Why WordPress is defaulted to have that structure, I do not know.  But, I do know that many bloggers are losing a whole lot of money because of it. You need to go into your "Permalinks" settings and change the structure so that the permalinks contain your keywords in them. It should look like this: http://randomtheblog/how-to-change-permalinks That style  complies to W3C standards and is easily read by the Google bots.  Over time you will rank for all kinds of long keyword phrases having to do with that phrase if your website has any domain authority.  The other way, well, lets hope you have tons of links and a high PR otherwise it will rank for very little. You need to have whatever you are talking about in the permalinks.  That is one of the items that Google looks for when it is determining what your page is about.  They look at the H1, H2, and content to get a feel for the post.  Oh course, links play their role as well. If you have a bad permalinks structure then you need to make the changed today.  But wait!  You cannot just switch.  It will be seen as duplicate content and your rankings will fall fast.  Rather you will first have to download the plugin "Dean's Permalinks" which will do a 301 permanent redirect for you and then make the changes. If you are a blogger that wants to not only make great quality posts but money as well, preferably off Google Adsense, then you need to have the correct permalinks so that you can rank for as many terms and phrases as possible.  You may be going after a specific keyword or group of keywords but you will find that half of your traffic comes from sources you did not even plan for.

DISQUS Introduced the Thread Migration Tool to Import Old Comments Posted: 27 Dec 2019 07:21 AM PST When I moved this blog from Blogger to WordPress platform recently, I couldn't import the existing Disqus comments due to changes in the permanent link(URL) of posts. Disqus comment threads are based on the URL of the post. What are threads? Threads are uniquely associated with each page which has Disqus embedded, typically an article or a blog post. For each of those pages, Disqus creates a thread that contains all of the relevant comments. Because a thread is associated to a page's URL, or web address, they can sometimes become disassociated when the URL changes. If you've changed your website's domain, you can use these new tools to restore these associations.[via] So if the post URL changes, old comments will not be shown for the new URL even if we are using 301 permanent redirect for old post URLs. I have contacted the Disqus support team regarding this issue and they replied that a new tool is being developed to solve these problems. Surprisingly Disqus team introduced this tool last day! How to use DISQUS Thread Migration Tool If you are in WordPress, don't forget to download and activate Disqus Plugin. Sign-in to your disqus account and go to Comments -> Tools -> Migrate Threads There are two options for you: Migration Wizard – This quick and easy wizard will walk you through migrating your threads to the new domain. Advanced Crawler – This is recommended if you know how to set 301 redirects on all of your old webpages and they are still available online. Disqus will crawl all of those old pages and automatically update your threads. Choose the right option from the above. Your threads will be updates very soon! New ‘Rich Text Signatures’ from Gmail Posted: 27 Dec 2019 06:36 AM PST We all like to brand our mails with proper signature with our name, a wish, an image or logo, website/blog link, social media links and so on. Gmail had the signature feature(plain text version) but we couldn't customize it to display it in 'our own way' like we do in a rich text editor . A lot of people suggested a rich text editor feature for this purpose. Since gmail love suggestions, this feature was introduced last day!  You can customize your signature by going to Signature section under Settings from your gmail account. Take a look at my signature: There is an option to edit the signatures of all emails associated with your primary email account. But we do not have the option to arrange these links without tweaking the templates as mentioned here. There is a simple plugin to do this called My Link Order. My Link Order plugin allows you to set the order in which links and link categories will appear in the sidebar or footer of your blog. This plugin enables a drag and drop interface to arrange these links. Installation Install and activate plugin. Go to "My Link Order" under the "Links" menu and specify your desired order for your link categories and the links in each category. Xmarks is one of my most favorite firefox and it's one of the best one available! I guess there is no firefox user without using this add-on. I got a "Proxy Configuration Error" last time when I synchronized my firefox bookmarks using Xmarks. I think it was due to the firefox upgradation I have done the previous day. But I got it fixed finally. If you too come across this error, open your firefox and just go through the following steps: Open Tools – select Options – go to Advanced section – Network tab – click Settings button – select No proxy – then save your settings Screenshots I know it's simple and most of you might be knowing it. Electronic withdrawal of funds have been temporarily disabled and only cheque withdrawal is possible with effect from July 29 2010. If you haven't checked it out, following is the email I got regarding this update: In accordance with regulatory instructions, we would like to notify you about a change in our withdrawal functionality in India starting on August 1, 2010. At present you can request for either an electronic or cheque withdrawal of funds from your PayPal account if you are an India user. From July 29, 2010 onwards, you will only be able to request for a cheque withdrawal of funds from your PayPal account. While we are working hard to restore the electronic withdrawal service, in the meantime, we are bringing this matter to your attention so that you can plan your future withdrawal activities accordingly. To request for a cheque withdrawal: 1. Log into your PayPal account, click on 'Withdraw'. 2. Click on the 'Request a cheque from PayPal' link. 3. It was reintroduced last day with some changes. New features include private scraps and private labels on photos, videos, etc. Private scraps will remain visible only to you and the person receiving the scrap.
