7 Subject Lines to Grab Attention

First impressions are the most important when you are trying to appeal to an audience, especially if your audience is based in an email. Subject lines are deal breakers because it just takes a matter of seconds before the email recipient will make the decision to whether or not open your email. Your email subject lines can either make or break you; here are 7 subject lines that can grab your reader's attention:

  1. Relatable: Consumers want to do business with a company that makes them feel important and part of their 'family', to achieve that create a subject line that is relatable. Using common phrases, subjects or questions that your main audience can relate too is a good idea.
  2. Urgency: A sense of urgency in your subject line will move your reader to act fast. The faster they act the more they become invested in the subject matter of the email. Examples: Only 10 more left! Hurry, before it's too late! Don't be the last to know!
  3. Deal: Put your best deal forward. If you company is having some sort of super sale or discount your subject line should say this. The better the deal the better chances that your reader will open your email to view your website. Make it too good to pass up.
  4. Current: Creating a subject line that is timely and parallel to what is happening the world is a good way to get your email audience clicking. For example using a large and non-controversial event as your subject line is intriguing like the Olympics or the process of going back to school.
  5. Question: Intrigue your reader with a question. When a question is posed the brain naturally wants to answer it. Examples: When's the last time you took a break? How's your car treating you? Etc.
  6. Tempt and Tease: Another technique is to not give your information all away at one time. Tempt and teasing the reading will make them curious enough to open the email. Examples: The Dress You Have Been Waiting for! Wishing for more? Etc.
  7. Short: Short, simple and to the point is always a big clicker for readers. You need to make sure that your shortness packs a lot of punch. Examples: Just open it. BIG sale tonight.
